GLORY OF THE HERO

GROUP SETUP

The group setup we used was as follows:
Prot warrior
Holy priest
Frostfire mage
Demonology lock
Elemental shaman

This setup works for most achievements, we used a somewhat different group for some of the achievements, though. If an achievement requires a specific group makeup, I’ll let you know. Our gear was a mix of heroic blues, epics, and Naxxramas 10man gear. Some achievements are more gear dependent than others, but if you want to complete the whole meta-achievement, make sure to have atleast full blue gear.

Utgarde Keep

On The Rocks
Difficulty: Easy

Have everyone in your group bring their PvP trinkets if they have one. The idea about this achievement is as follows: Keleseth will cast an Ice Tomb on one of your party members (not the tank), and he/she will be encased in ice, taking damage over time and unable to act. You can use Ice Block / Bubble / PvP trinket to get out of this ice block. If these are not available, just have your healer outheal the damage. If your healer gets iceblocked, and he cannot break it, whipe and try again.

The Nexus

Split Personality
Difficulty: Medium

Telestra uses an ability to clone herself into 3 clones. You will have to bring each of those clones down to about 10 percent health, and then quickly finish them all off. She uses the ability two times, execute this strategy two times, and you’ve got the achievement done.

Intense Cold
Difficulty: Easy

For this achievement, you need a dispeller in your group, or atleast some way to break snares. Keristrasza has some kind of aura that gives you a stacking debuff while you’re standing still. The key is to keep moving. From time to time, she uses a frost attack that freezes you into place. If this is not dispelled quickly enough, you will stack up 3+ debuffs and lose the achievement. It might be useful to bring a PvP trinket for this, just to be sure.

Chaos Theory
Difficulty: Medium to Hard

The idea with this achievement is not to kill any temportal rifts during the Anomalus encounter. Easier said than done: he becomes immune when he casts a temportal rift. The way to do this achievement is to just run away to the farthest corner of his platform when he casts these rifts. Just be as far away from the rifts as possible, and they won’t damage you, or at least not as much. After about 30 seconds, the rifts disappear and Anomalus becomes attackable again. This is a pretty hard achievement because of the high AoE damage your group has to endure.

Azjol-Nerub

Watch Him Die
Difficulty: Medium to Hard

This is a tricky one. There’s several strategies to it, one of ‘em being just zerging the boss down, trying to survive while you burst all your cooldowns to kill the boss. We failed with this tactic, but I heard reports of people doing it this way, so it might be worth mentioning. The way we did it, was to have the mage kite away the watchers. Our tank ran in, gathered up the adds, then the mage used Blizzard to take aggro on the watchers and then kited them back to the entrance while we burned down the boss with 4 people. We had a hunter in the group this time, instead of an elemental shaman. The trap came in handy while kiting. This achievement is probably gonna take you a few tries to get right.

Hadronox Denied
Difficulty: Medium

Another tricky one! You have to engage Hadronox before he’s all the way up top, where you fought the elite Crushers. This is a very random achievement, since sometimes you will manage to catch him on 30 percent health and quickly finish him off, and sometimes you will unleash everything you got, while he stays on 100 percent. This is because he heals after he kills the little adds that spawn.
The way we did it was by ‘clever use of game mechanics’: the group waited on the web-bridge that leads into the big room with the Hadronox encounter in it, while our hunter restarted the event by pulling the elite Crusher and then feigning death. Everything despawned, and Hadronox will be alone in his lair below. Everyone jump down and quickly zerg Hadronox before any adds spawn. Achievement done!

Gotta Go!
Difficulty: Extremely hard

This is currently the hardest achievement in game. It will be nerfed in the next patch though, so if you can’t be bothered whiping a few hours on trying this, just wait for Blizzard to nerf it and do it the easy way.
Alright, this achievement requires a very specific group setup: 1 tank, 4 dps. Yes that’s right, no healer. You will need INSANE dps to be able to kill him within 2 minutes, which is the goal of this achievement. One of those dps will be your healer, specced for dps, while still being able to toss a heal once in a while. And one of the group members needs to be able to slow casting speed (Curse of Tongues or Mind-numbing Poison).
Anub’arak will burrow and call for adds every 25 percent of his health, so at 75, 50, and 25 percent. While he’s burrowed, you cannot do any damage to him. The key to this achievement is to skip two burrow phases. How to do this? He cannot burrow while he is casting one of his spells (Pound, Locust Swarm, Carrion Beatles). What you’re gonna do is take off 25% of his health WHILE HE IS CASTING and bring him below 50% health before he first burrows. Then you need to quickly finish off all of his adds, and when he comes up again, burn down the rest of his health before he burrows a second time.
The reason why this achievement is so hard, is not only the insane damage requirement, but also the fact that you need to get lucky that he starts to cast a spell at about 77 percent, so you can burn him down below 50 percent before he finishes. It happens that he never even casts anything before he burrows (guaranteed fail), or he starts casting at 85 percent and be below 75 percent when he’s done. You cannot hold dps and wait for him to start casting at 77 percent, since your dps will be too low to kill him within 2 minutes. Pure luck and awesome dps is the key to this achievement.

Ahn’kahet: The Old Kingdom

The Party’s Over
Difficulty: Easy

This is a really easy achievement. Just bring 4 people instead of 5 to the instance, skip the first boss (he is optional), and kill the second boss. Just bring good dps to be able to end his ‘Essence of the Vampyr’ before someone dies.

Volazj’s Quick Demise
Difficulty: Hard

This achievement used to be exploitable, but the old method got fixed and now the achievement is actually hard! There are several methods for doing this, but all of them require very high dps.

One method is to burn him down below 33 percent health before he finishes casting his first insanity. You will get two mirror images at the same time, but you will still be able to attack the boss and kill it within 2 minutes.
Another way is to just have very high damage on the mirror images and kill them quickly, then continue on the boss. I can see it being very hard using this method. Priests can use mind control on the images to despawn them.

Respect Your Elders
Difficulty: Easy

Killing this boss the way I’m going to describe is actually easier than the way you would normally kill him. Let the tank aggro him, and kite Nadox back to the entrance, as far as you can. There you start dps, and just burn him down as quickly as possible. The guardians that normally make him immune to damage do spawn, but they will be too far away from the boss, so their ‘immune aura’ does not affect him. Kill the boss before any of the guardians come in range. If you fail, just run out of the instance and try again.
Oh, and remember to clear all mobs on the way to Nadox, or you might aggro them while kiting him back.

Volunteer Work
Difficulty: Easy to Medium

As the achievement dictates, don’t kill any of the mobs that she calls for while she’s flying in the air. When these mobs reach her, she becomes enraged and the mob dies. While enraged she does insane damage, so have your tank ready to pop some of his defensive cooldowns. The healer also has to be op top of his game, cancel-casting heals etc.
This achievement becomes alot easier if you have someone in your group that can disarm her. While she is disarmed, her damage output lowers significantly.
An easy way to do this is to have everyone in the party jump off the platform down the waterfall when she calls the first add. This means she will have to run all the way around and she will lose her enrage buff on the way, which ofcourse makes this achievement trivial.

Drak’tharon Keep

Consumption Junction
Difficulty: Easy to Medium

This achievement isn’t really hard, but requires a trick. You’ll want to bring as many ranged dps as you can, since melee is basically useless here.
Trollgore will use his Consume ability every 15 seconds. This means he will check how many players / mobs / pets are in his line of sights, and he gets that many buffs. Normally, if everyone would stand in his sight and would nuke normally, he would get 10 stacks of consume within 30 seconds. The trick is to have the tank tank Trollgore down the stairs, while the rest of the group runs up and uses the top of the stairs to go out of Trollgore’s line of sight while he casts consume. The adds he spawns need to be killed instantly, since they will add consume stacks to Trollgore aswell.
So the trick is: tank tanks him downstairs, rest of group runs up, goes out of line of sight. Wait for Trollgore to get 1 stack of consume (only tank will be in LoS), then go all-out dps on Trollgore for 10 seconds, then hide again. Wait for Trollgore to get another stack, and rinse and repeat. Make sure to kill the mobs he spawns quickly. If you fail, run out of the room and he will reset.

Better Off Dred
Difficulty: Medium to Hard

King Dred has 7 raptors with him in his cage. The key to doing this achievement is to pull one raptor, bring it down to 15 percent health, pull the next, do the same, and pull another one, same thing. You now have 3 raptors on very low health sticking on your tank. Now pull King Dred and finish off the three raptors quickly. Now dps the boss. During the encounter, King Dred will call for raptors himself. Kill the raptors asap, and when he has called 3 raptors total, you can kill Dred, since the 3 raptors you killed in the start + the 3 raptors he called = 6 dead raptors during his defeat. Make sure to kill the raptors close to the boss or the achievement might not count them.
If you fail, you will have to reset the instance, because the raptors in his cage do not respawn. Run out, set dungeon difficulty to normal, set to heroic again, reset all instances, and go in again. Some of the other trash will be respawned too, but not all of it. Then you’ve got another shot.

Oh Novos!
Difficulty: Easy

Just kill the undead on the stairs before they reach the floor. They don’t have alot of health, so this shouldn’t be a problem. This is probably the easiest achievement of ‘em all.

Violet Hold

Defenseless
Difficulty: Easy

This basically means doing a perfect Violet Hold run. Kill all adds before they reach the doors, and don’t use any of the defense crystals. Easy.

Lockdown
Difficulty: Easy

Every Violet Hold run, you will meet two of the six bosses that are listed for this achievement. This achievement just means running Violet Hold until RNG rolls in your favor and you meet all six different bosses.

Dehydration
Difficulty: Easy to Medium

When you meet Ichoron, whenever he uses his ‘split’ ability and he dissipates into loads of tiny elite water elementals, have someone use a defense crystal. All the adds will die instantly. Engage the boss again, rinse and repeat until he’s dead. Achievement complete. Note that you will have to find a new control crystal every time.

A Void Dance
Difficulty: Medium

When you meet Zuramat, just nuke the boss. Instead of killing his little adds like you would normally do, just nuke the boss. This achievement comes down to having a competent healer than can outheal the damage. Priest healers are ideal for this, since they can even buff everyone with shadow protection.

Gun’drak

What The Eck?
Difficulty: Easy

While killing the optional boss in Gun’drak, make sure to stand in front of him while he casts his Eck Spit ability. After this, you will have the ‘Eck residue’ debuff. Now all you have to do is stay alive until you defeat the last boss.

Share The Love
Difficulty: Medium to Hard

We used a very specific group setup for this, just to be sure to make it, but it’s not really neccesary. We went for an optimal setup of 2 healers, 2 tanks, and 1 dps. The only thing you really need for this achievement is an offtank, though.
While Gal’darah is in his Rhino form, he will twice choose a target and impale him or her. The idea of this achievement is to just wait it out until everyone in the group has gotten impaled. He will never impale the highest threat target though, so after your offtank (anyone who can taunt, really) got impaled, have him taunt the boss during rhino phases until the main tank got impaled aswell. You will find that this is just a waiting game, and your gear needs to be good enough to be able to wait this out. Unless, ofcourse, you’re willing to keep trying this until you get perfectly lucky and everyone gets impaled once. It took us alot of time though (15 minutes), so this is in no way a dps fight. This is why we brought 2 healers, 2 tanks, and only one dps.

Less-Rabi
Difficulty: Easy to Medium

This achievement is impossible. Atleast to my experience. Then why did I rate it easy to medium? Because it’s exploitable. Let’s explain the way it ought to be done first.
Moorabi casts a spell called Transformation roughly every 10 seconds. This needs to be interrupted, since this achievement dictates that he cannot turn into a mammoth. The catch is, the lower his health, the faster this spell casts. After 25 percent health, you’ll find it impossible to interrupt (cast time will be about 0.2 seconds). The idea is to wait at about 35 percent for him to cast his Transformation spell, interrupt it, and then burn him down to 0 before he attempts to cast it again.
Now, believe me, we’ve done ALOT of tries on this, and it simply seemed impossible. The interrupt does not actually lock out his spell school, so after an interrupt he can cast the spell immediately again. No, mage counterspell does not work.
The way to do this achievement is as follows: have one of your party members ( a dpser ) kite the boss away up the stairs to the entrance, while the rest of the party stands on the other side of the doorway opposite to the stairsentrance. During this kiting, Moorabi will transform into a mammoth. The kiter will now die as close to the entrance as possible. Moorabi resets and runs back in mammoth form, and this is when your party will engage him. You will kill him and get the achievement. Technically, he was in mammoth form all the time during the encounter with your 4-man group, and he did not ‘transform into a mammoth’ during your fight. Hence, you got the achievement. Hooray! And yes, the kiter gets the achievement too.

Snakes. Why’d It Have To Be Snakes?
Difficulty: Easy

The key to this achievement is to just kill the snakes before they gang up on somebody and give him enough debuffs to get snaketrapped. Have an AOE dps take care of the snakes, achievement complete.

Halls of Stone

Good Grief
Difficulty: Medium

This one’s not too hard. The key is to stand in the void zones (black circles on the ground) while he casts repentance. The way we did it was to have everyone just stand on the void zone 100 percent of the time, with me just outhealing it. If your gear doesn’t allow this, you will have to get a feeling for when the boss casts repentance, and stand in the void zone when she does, then move out again.

Brann Spankin’ New
Difficulty: Easy

Just kill all adds before they reach Brann, very easy with a competent group.

Abuse The Ooze
Difficulty: Medium

Just fight normally, until he starts spawning the little oozes. Don’t kill any oozes, and allow them to merge into the large oozes, Iron Sludges. Kill 5 of those, and then the boss after, to get the achievement. The hard part is that the boss seems to do loads of AoE damage to the group in this phase. I’m not sure how this works, but it’s outhealable.

Halls of Lightning

Timely Death
Difficulty: Medium

There is not really a trick to this one, you just need wellgeared dpsers. Difficulty is medium because the actual boss is kinda hard in itself.

Lightning Struck
Difficulty: Easy

Again, there’s no trick to this one. Just dps the adds down, then the boss. No trick to this one.

Shatter Resistant
Difficulty: Easy

Another dps race. If you have enough dps, you won’t have to do anything special to complete this achievement.

The Culling Of Stratholme

The Culling Of Time
Difficulty: Medium to Hard

For this achievement, you need to do a regular stratholme clear, except that you will take a left turn before the last boss. There you will meet the Infinite Corruptor, atleast, if you made the time limit. The key to this achievement is just chainpulling, use as many AoE dps as you can, and blaze through the instance. The infinite corruptor itself is a piece of cake, and can be killed in about 2 minutes.

Zombiefest!
Difficulty: Medium

This achievement requires some planning ahead. There’s exactly 85 zombies in the starting area, and then there’s some more in the gauntlet before the last boss. What you need to do, is pull the second boss into the house where you will fight the infinite dragonflight, in order to have all 85 zombies up when you kill it. This is because the zombies stop respawning after the second boss is dead.
If you did it right, there will be 85 zombies up now in the starting area, and Arthas will come running to you. Just proceed to kill the third boss as normal. After he’s dead and Arthas has opened the secret doorway, split up your group. Your tank and healer (provided one of them can AoE) go back to the starting area, and the rest of your group wait at the start of the gauntlet. What you’re gonna do, is have your tank gather up ALL the zombies in the starting area, and when he’s got them all gathered up, he gives a sign to the 3 dpsers waiting at the gauntlet to start killing. The tank and the healer quickly finish off the 85 zombies in the starting area, while your 3 dpsers zerg into the gauntlet and kill any zombies they can. If they get atleast 15 (which is easy), you will have the achievement done. Watch out that your tank doesn’t kill the zombies with reflective damage while gathering them up.
You only have one shot at this, so make sure you’ve got everything set when you’re going to attempt this!

Utgarde Pinnacle

The Incredible Hulk
Difficulty: Easy

In the room with Svala, there will be a Scourge Hulk on the opposite side of her. Bring the hulk down to about 10 percent health, then just engage the boss as normal. When she lifts up in the air and summons adds, kill these adds and have your tank place the Scourge Hulk exactly on top of the platform where she is going to land. When she lands, she deals AoE shadowdamage and this will kill the hulk. Achievement complete! Make sure to bring the hulk to about 5k health or it might not die.
You can now safely whipe, as the achievement does not demand you to actually kill this boss.

Lodi Dodi We Loves The Skadi
Difficulty: Medium to Hard

It helps for this achievement to have a ranged dps group, but is in no way neccesary. In order to do this achievement, we’ll take two steps:
First, start the event, clear up to the harpooners, gather up the harpoons but don’t fire them! When your group has 5 harpoons, run back and reset the event by running through the door at the start.
Now, start the event again. Try to pull all the mobs together and AoE them. This saves you alot of time. Now wait for the boss to come into range of the harpoon launchers, and fire all your 5 harpoons at him. He will instantly dismount and attack your party. Make sure your tank picks him up quickly, this boss likes to one-shot clothies upon landing. Now it’s just a matter of nuking him down quickly.
By gathering up the harpoons in the start, you will save yourself about a minute of waiting for the boss to come into range of the harpoons a second time, making this achievement not too much of a challenge.

My Girl Loves To Skadi All The Time
Difficulty: Easy

Start the event as normal, and kill the harpooners. Instead of fireing them whenever the boss is in range of the harpoon launchers, wait until your party has gathered 5 harpoons, wait for the next time the boss to comes in range of the harpoon launchers, and then fire all harpoons in one go. This should get you the achievement.

King’s Bane
Difficulty: Easy

This involves killing Ymiron without triggering bane. What is bane? It’s a spell he casts (you will see the cast bar when he casts it), and it gives him a 5 second buff. While he has this buff, any direct damage attack made against him deals AoE shadow damage to your party. To do this achievement, make sure that everyone in your party stops all attacks against the boss when he casts Bane, and while the Bane buff lasts. This includes calling back hunter pets, Mage’s water elementals, etc. To be sure, don’t use them at all during this fight. It’s easy enough anyway!

The Oculus

Experienced Drake Rider
Difficulty: Easy

In order to complete this achievement, you will have to go to the Oculus three times, and defeat the last boss using a different color of drake every time. Nothing else to it.

Make It Count
Difficulty: Hard

This is one of the more nerve-wrecking achievements. Basically, you need to do a perfect Oculus run. If you make a single mistake, like aggroing a drake while you’re not mounted, you will not make the timer. If you kill all drakes, you will not have enough time left to complete the instance under 20 minutes.
We used a setup of 2 Ruby, 2 Emerald, and 1 Bronze drake for this. We wanted to be safe on the last boss, and felt most comfortable with this setup.
Try to kill as few drakes as possible, clearing only one side of a construct platform and fighting at that side, for example. And use AoE to clear the packs of mobs as fast as possible. If you make no mistakes and are decently geared, you will complete this achievement.

A way to ‘cheat’ on this achievement is to get your drakes in normal difficulty Oculus first, then dying, setting instance to heroic, and running back in. You will still have your drakes and can now kill 9 Constructs before even engaging the first boss. Leave 1 alive, or the instance will bug out.

Ruby Void
Difficulty: Medium

This involves killing the last boss without any partymember using a Ruby drake. We completed this achievement together with the Amber Void achievement by using 5 Emerald drakes, but it’s probably best to use 1 amber and 4 emerald, or any mix of ambers and emeralds you feel comfortable with.
To further explain the 5 Emerald tactic:
Just kite the boss around in circles and keep the poison spit and damage debuff up at the boss. The one that has aggro from the boss, also use spit on the little whelps that spawn to give you some extra healing. When you’re about to die, make sure to die on the platform. When you’re dead, you can run back in, mount up, and rejoin the fight. If you fall out of the instance however, you will not be able to rejoin the fight, because you lose the drake in your inventory. We had alot of evades back to 100 percent health using this method, and it takes some patience to get it right, that’s why I advise using an Amber drake or two, to avoid complications.

Emerald Void
Difficulty: Medium

Now, without an emerald drake! We went with a setup of 2 Ruby drakes and 3 Amber drakes. When you engage him, the first amber uses his time stop. When it’s over, the second uses it. The third saves his time stop for when Eregos goes into a frenzy. Other than this, it’s just dps and tank as normal. You will probably need a few tries to get this right.

Amber Void
Difficulty: Medium

See Ruby Void. This time it’s without any Amber drakes. It can pretty easily be done using 2 Ruby and 3 Emerald drakes, or you can use the 5 Emerald tactic posted above.
